CAMBELTS
The cambelt (or timing belt) is one of the most important components of your vehicle and needs replacing periodically to avoid poor performance and potential damage to your vehicle.

The cambelt (also known as timing belt) opens and closes the engine valves, allowing fuel to enter the engine where it ignites and produces exhaust. Therefore, it is extremely important that the cambelt isn’t too tight, too loose or worn out as this will impede effective engine operation.

The cambelt, or timing belt, regulates the way your engine works by synchronising the rotation of the crankshaft and the camshaft. Like most engine parts, it does eventually wear out, and if it’s left it can snap which can cause some very expensive damage to your engine. On older vehicles, this could even cost more than the value of the vehicle itself.

Often there are really no signs that warn you that your cambelt needs changing. Our team can checking with our resources to see what intervals the manufacturer recommends.

Most manufacturers recommend having your cambelt replaced at anything between 40,000 and 100,000 miles, or between 4 and 6 years. There is no definitive mileage or time period for all vehicles. If you are at all concerned about the condition of your cambelt, or whether its overdue as per manufacturers recommendation, bring your vehicle to us and here at Maiden Newton Garage our trained technicians can asses, report back and of course, replace if necessary.

We are able to offer (subject to availability) a courtesy car free of charge for the duration of work carried out.
